About Polaris

We welcome you to Polaris at Newmarket Academy. Polaris is the Latin name for the North Star; we encourage our young people to shine brightly and we guide them on their journeys to becoming their best selves. We offer unconditional positive regard at every step of the journey no matter how long or how bumpy the road.

Polaris provides education for students in years 7 to 11 who have communication and interaction needs. Our integrated approach provides the best of both worlds: individualized support and instruction, along with the opportunity to participate in mainstream education alongside their peers.

Our students primarily face challenges in communication and interaction, which may include language and communication difficulties, social pragmatic difficulties, or Autism Spectrum Conditions. Typically, our students require assistance with social interaction skills, managing transitions, and navigating unstructured times. They may encounter difficulties with rigid thinking, relationship building, and understanding and interpreting social situations.
