Careers (CEIAG)
Our Provision
Our careers programme starts in year 7 and goes right through to year 11, and beyond for those who might need it. Our programme of careers support and career related events allow students the opportunity to engage with post 16 education providers, apprenticeship providers, employers, and universities. In addition to this we arrange workplace visits, talks from industry individuals, and mock interviews.
All of our students are entitled to a strong careers (CEIAG) programme. Students across the school have a careers focused lesson once per half term. We believe all students should have equal access to advice and guidance therefore we offer individual guidance on request and additional support where appropriate.
We want all of our students to aim for excellence and to have high aspirations which will then enable them to develop personally and in their education. We believe in empowering students with the knowledge they need to make informed choices.
In line with government policy, our work is now benchmarked against the ‘Gatsby Benchmarks – the recognised national standards for school careers provision.
You can view the Newmarket Academy Careers Programme from the attachments section on this page.
The Newmarket Academy Careers provision is monitored, reviewed, and evaluated in the following ways:
- Verbal feedback and discussions during meeting time
- Work experience diaries
- Employer feedback forms
- Year group questionnaires and surveys
- Lesson Observations
- Mock interview employer to student feedback forms
- Destinations data
- Parents’ forum
