At Newmarket Academy, we believe that learning extends far beyond the classroom. Our programme of educational visits, residential experiences and international exchanges provides students with opportunities to develop new skills, broaden their horizons and create lasting memories. From cultural exchanges and historical visits to adventure expeditions and outdoor pursuits, our trips help students build confidence, resilience, independence and teamwork.

Lexington Exchange

Our long-standing partnership with Lexington Massachusetts, provides students with a unique opportunity to experience life, culture and education in the United States. Each year, students from Lexington visit Newmarket Academy in July, before our students travel to Lexington in October. The exchange programme helps students develop independence, confidence and a global perspective while building lasting international friendships.

History Trip

The History Department offers exciting overseas visits to France, giving students the opportunity to bring their classroom learning to life. These trips allow students to explore significant historical sites, deepen their understanding of key historical events and immerse themselves in French culture.

Outlook Expedition

Our Outlook Expeditions provide students with unforgettable opportunities to experience new cultures, challenge themselves and make a positive impact in communities around the world. In 2018, students spent three weeks in Southern India, taking part in a range of cultural and community-based activities. A further expedition to Malawi was planned for 2020, continuing our commitment to providing life-changing international experiences that develop resilience, teamwork and global citizenship.

Ski Trip

Our annual Ski Trip is one of the highlights of the school calendar, offering students the opportunity to develop their skiing skills, build confidence and enjoy an unforgettable experience in the mountains. Open to students of all abilities, the trip combines expert instruction with the chance to explore spectacular alpine resorts and immerse themselves in a different culture.

Over the years, students have visited a range of world-class destinations, including Torgon, Switzerland (2018), Crans-Montana, Switzerland (2019, 2020 and 2022) and Italy (2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026). The trip continues to be a popular and rewarding experience, helping students develop resilience, independence, teamwork and lifelong memories.

Dorset Buddens Residential

In 2026, we launched our first residential visit to Buddens Activity Centre in Dorset for Year 8 students. The trip provided an exciting opportunity for students to develop confidence, resilience and teamwork while enjoying a range of outdoor and adventure activities. During their stay, students experienced camping and took part in activities such as raft building, climbing and a variety of outdoor challenges, encouraging them to step outside their comfort zones, work collaboratively and develop new skills. The success of the inaugural trip has made it a valuable addition to our programme of enrichment opportunities.

Through these experiences, Newmarket Academy is proud to provide students with opportunities that enrich their education, foster personal growth and create memories that last a lifetime.
