GCSE results described as ‘excellent’ at Newmarket Academy.

“We are clearly delighted that the Ofsted judgement in May this year which rated the school as ‘Good’ is justified by these results which reflect another year of improvement.

Students at Newmarket Academy achieve excellent results in the key areas - something for which Newmarket can be proud.”

In terms of last year’s measure of success – the number of students achieving 5 good GCSEs including English and Maths - figures rose 8% to 54%.

Student achievements in other subjects including catering, PE, RE, Engineering, Travel and Tourism and the Sciences were all really strong with over 85% of students in these subjects achieving C grades or higher.

Mr Froy added: “These results confirm the Academy’s transformation and shows this is a school where the students and teachers work effectively together for every child.

“We are again confident that in terms of progress from Key Stage II starting points, the students at the Academy will have made greater than national average progress.”

Fantastic results by students at Newmarket Academy include Charlie Davis who achieved 4A*s, 6As, 1B and 1 AS level in sociology, Jonas Kazlauskas who gained 6A*/As, 2Bs and an AS level at grade B, Charlotte Parker 8A*/As, 3Bs and an AS level and Olivia Stevens 9A*/As and 1 B.

Dr Tim Coulson, Chief Executive of the Samuel Ward Academy Trust, said: “This represents a great improvement in the school’s results.

“Many congratulations to all the school’s staff and pupils. We wish the young people every success as they go on to the next stage of their education.”
